Music at KTC

KTC Music is a vibrant area within the school. Music plays a key role in the student’s daily lives and they are able to explore their passion and interest further in the classroom and co-curricular activities.

Primary School Music Program

In the Classroom

All students in the Primary school participate in classroom music. Through singing, playing, moving, organising sound and listening, students explore musical concepts and repertoire from all periods and around the world. Students have the opportunity to participate in the ‘Musica Viva’ program every year, which is an exciting opportunity for the students to learn and become the audience.

Co-Curricular

  • Girls’ and Boys’ Musicianship – Developing their understanding of music theory
  • Girls’ Year 1-6 Vocal – Explores a range of music from a variety of cultures
  • Contemporary Bands
  • Performance opportunities at school events and functions

 

High School Music Program

In the Classroom

Students complete the mandatory hours in Years 7-8. Through the exploration of diverse concepts of music, students are able to make connections with listening, composition, musicology and performance. Students explore topics such as Western Art Music, World Music, Film Music, Musicals etc.

Co-Curricular

Students have opportunities to participate in the following activities:

  • GHS Production (biannually)
  • Performance opportunities at school events and functions
  • Contemporary Bands
